About the programme

Where business judgement meets machine capability

Organisations everywhere are being told to "use AI." Very few have anyone who can say precisely which decision it should touch, what data it needs, and how to tell whether the answer it produced is any good. AIBA exists to produce that person.

The programme empowers professionals to leverage AI tools, automation, prompt engineering, data analysis and AI-driven decision-making. It is less about building systems than about wielding them — framing a problem properly, choosing the right instrument, interrogating the output, and then convincing a room full of people to act on it.

The analyst's advantage was never access to data. It was knowing which question was worth asking of it.

AIBA suits people who are already close to decisions: analysts, officers, coordinators, managers. It also suits career changers, because the core skill — structured thinking about messy problems — transfers from almost anywhere.

Who this diploma is for
  • Analysts, officers and managers who make or inform decisions from data
  • Professionals asked to adopt AI at work who want to do it rigorously
  • Career changers moving into business analysis from any background
  • Team leads who need to brief technical colleagues clearly and precisely
What you'll study

Eight modules, from problem framing to a live business case

AIBA builds a single capability in layers: define the problem, get the data, apply the tool, test the answer, then persuade someone to act.

01

The Business Analyst's Toolkit

What the role actually involves, the standard techniques, and where an analyst adds value in an organisation.

02

Problem Framing & Requirements

Turning a vague complaint into a defined problem with stakeholders, constraints and a measurable outcome.

03

Data Analysis for Decisions

Reading, cleaning and interrogating data. Descriptive analysis, comparison, and the traps that mislead.

04

Prompt Engineering in Practice

Getting reliable, repeatable output from language models — and recognising when the output is confidently wrong.

05

AI Tools for the Analyst

The current tool landscape, what each is genuinely good at, and how to choose between them for a given task.

06

Automation for Business Processes

Identifying the routine work in a process and automating it without breaking what already works.

07

Communicating Insight

Visualising findings, writing the recommendation, and holding a room that would rather not change anything.

08

Capstone: A Live Business Problem

You take a real problem, analyse it, build the recommendation and defend it. The programme's final assessment.

Note: module titles and sequencing are confirmed each semester by the academic team. Facilitators are working practitioners, so content is refreshed to reflect current industry practice.
Where it takes you

From reading reports to writing the recommendation

AIBA is assessed on judgement as much as technique — the analysis has to be right, and it has to persuade.

By the end you'll be able to

Skills you walk away with

  • Turn an ambiguous business problem into a defined, answerable question
  • Gather, clean and analyse data to support a decision
  • Write prompts that produce reliable, repeatable output from AI tools
  • Recognise when an AI-generated answer is wrong, biased or unusable
  • Automate routine analysis so your time goes to the parts that need judgement
  • Present findings and defend a recommendation to senior stakeholders

What is the difference between AIBA and AIAS?
Both run on Fridays and both are built around artificial intelligence. AIBA is for people who use AI to analyse problems and shape decisions; AIAS is for people who build the automated systems themselves. If your work is closer to judgement and stakeholders, choose AIBA. If it is closer to systems and building, choose AIAS.
